The Los Angeles Times has confirmed that former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin will receive $75,000 plus expenses up $18,000 in expenses to speak at Cal State Stanislaus later this month.
Times education reporter Carla Rivera received confirmation from two unnamed “State University sources that have seen the contract for the engagement” that an earlier internet rumor about Palin fee was in fact true.
Palin is receiving the fee in two payments of $37,500 each, one of which has already been paid, along with expenses for her hotel, air fare and transportation. The former governor's travel, however, has yet to be booked and the exact amount of her expenses is still to be determined.
“I want to commend the Times for their intrepid reporting,” said CFA President Lillian Taiz. “However, it remains an absolute travesty that Stanislaus officials are able to hide behind the shroud of the university foundation. The ongoing fiasco at CSU Stanislaus simply highlights why we need to pass Senate Bill 330 now.”
