At CSUMB’s “Class in the Quad” action yesterday, April 13th, approximately 300 members of the campus community and supporters gathered in front of the Student Center as one, large outside class in defense of public higher education. Attendees received a “diploma” and a “final exam” with questions about the cuts to the CSU.

After the rally, a contingent of about 200 people, mostly students, marched to the campus administration building.

Resolution in Support of the March 2nd Day of Action
Monterey Bay Chapter of the California Faculty Association

Whereas between 2002 and 2010 the California State University (CSU) system lost 13% of its faculty* which has resulted in students having a difficult time getting the classes they need;

Whereas between 2002 and 2011 CSU student fees went up 242%**;
Whereas the CSU Board of Trustees have approved fee increases that establishes for the first time that the share students pay in fees will outweigh the contribution from the state of California;
