ENDORSING & CAMPAIGNING
FOR CANDIDATES

CFA’s endorsement process helps CFA identify the best candidates for legislative and constitutional office. It also helps candidates learn more about the CFA and the CSU.

The importance of CFA’s endorsement process is underscored by the advent of term limits in 1990. As institutional memory fades, candidate identification, education and relationship-building becomes necessary to provide the legislative process with a positive working knowledge of the CSU, its faculty's and its students' needs.

CFA members interview and evaluate candidates on a range of issues: candidate views on collective bargaining in general and collective bargaining rights for faculty; funding for the CSU and public accountability regarding use of the funds; commitment to student and faculty diversity; and tax-reform measures. Candidates are selected based on their stands on these and other local issues.

CFA members work hard to help deliver the vote for endorsed candidates through voter registration, voter education (phone banking, mailings, leafleting, speaking to groups), vote-by-mail drives and hosting candidate forums.
