PROFESSOR GEORGE DIEHR:
AN EFFECTIVE VOICE FOR CSU EMPLOYEES

George Diehr, a business professor at CSU
San Marcos and CFA's Contract Development & Bargaining Strategy Committee chair, has served as a member of the California Public Employees' Retirement System Board of Administration since 2002. Just as he has done with our contract negotiations, Diehr has been an effective advocate for the interests of CSU employees on the 13 member CalPERS governing body.

Diehr is seeking a second four year term, giving CSU employees, particularly faculty members, a presence and a voice in the decisions that affect our retirement health care. He currently serves as the chair of the Health Benefits Committee and the vice chair of the Investment Committee. To find out more about what George has done, visit his campaign website: www.Diehr4PERS.org

While on the board, Diehr has focused on policies that would contain the costs of health care and improve provider quality. He also has been active in fighting attacks on the system’s defined-benefit plan. And he works effectively with other board members to make sure that the $210 billion fund is a strong national leader on improving health care and making sure that corporations are good citizens.

"Having George on the CalPERS board ensures that CSU faculty members and staff will have their interests represented," said CFA President John Travis. "CSU employees greatly benefit from having such a knowledgeable and active colleague."

Diehr’s term expires in January 2007. Ballots will be mailed to home addresses on August 21.
