December 28 Non-presidential partisan candidates’ signatures in lieu of filing fees (SIL) period for June 2008 primary open (closes February 21, 2008)

January 2008

January 1 Statutes, without urgency clause, signed into law in 2007 take effect

January 7 Legislature reconvenes

January 7 Absentee Ballots for February 5, 2008 Presidential Primary begin mailing (completed by January 29, 2008)

January 10 Budget submitted by the Governor

January 21 Close of registration for the Presidential Primary

January 22-29 Voter registration for new residents and new citizens only

January 25 Last day for two-year bills (bills introduced in 2007) to be reported out of committee to the floor in the bills house of origin

January 25 Last day to submit bills to Legislative Counsel
