NUMBERS
The chart shows the steady increase in management personnel (MPPs) through 2001.
As of October 2002, the CSU employed 3,182 MPPs (14 of these individuals were on leave). This is roughly a 3.25% increase in MPP employment over the October 2001 total of 3,082.
EARNINGS
Another part of the growth story shows in earnings.
On average, CSU MPPs will earn $86,231 in FY 2002/03. This total varies by campus, ranging from $76,471 at Sonoma to $96,991 at SFSU.
In 2002, there were 933 CSU MPPs (29.3% of all MPPs) earning $100,000 or more. Ninety eight MPPs earned $150,000 or more. For the first time, an MPP broke the $200,000 barrier.
The total salary pool for CSU MPPs is estimated at $274.4 million for FY
2002/03. If benefits are included (20% of salary), the total compensation
pool grows to an estimated $329.3 million.
