Faculty members at Cal State East Bay were informed today that they will be joined on the picket line by nationally known activist and Princeton University Religion Professor Cornel West. West, who will speak between 4pm-5pm, was recently arrested in front of the Supreme Court for protesting laws that permit corporate domination of the political process and he as been a frequent speaker at Occupy Wall Street protests.
An author of 19 books, he is a strong advocate for equality and justice for workers, gay people, women, and people of color while at the same preaching a gospel of love and tolerance for all human beings as individuals.
The striking faculty will also be joined by representatives from the California Teachers Association, the Service Employees International Union, and America Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, the Alameda Labor Council, and other community representatives.
