ELECTORAL POLITICS

CFA’s political action program is one of the union’s most effective means to achieve gains for members.

Because nearly 80 percent of all funds directed to the university are determined through the legislative process, and many hard-won victories at the bargaining table require funding by the Legislature, CFA believes it is critical that faculty members get involved in the process that creates and supports political decision-makers. If not, others with conflicting interests will.

Political clout supports CFA at the bargaining table, and a good contract makes for a stronger union. A strong union commands even more political clout and respect and improves the faculty working conditions and job security.

CFA’s political and legislative activity emanates from the state Capitol, but the real work begins with our member political activists on campuses.

Endorsing and campaigning for candidates, working to support/oppose ballot measures and supporting CFA’s political action funds are just three ways that members support CFA’s political action program.

• Send an e-mail to the Political Action & Legislation chair to get involved.
