Key questions that will be discussed to help you take advantage of your CalPERS benefits, include:

* What factors will your lifetime CalPERS pension be based on, and how to maximize your eventual pension?

* What does buying back “service prior to membership” consist of and how to do it?

* How do you buy back service credit from full-year, partially-funded sabbaticals, DIPs, and any unfunded leave?

* What is “FlexCash,” and how to get up to an additional money in your paycheck?

* How does a Lecturer become a CalPERS member?

* How is sick leave allocated, does it accumulate, and what effect might it have on your eventual monthly pension amount?

* How can you retain your medical and dental benefits for life after you retire, for yourself and your spouse/partner?

* Why you should consider going to one of the official CalPERS-run workshops offered every semester.

Our workshop presenter is Jonathan Karpf of CFA’s Statewide Health and Retirement Benefits Committee.

All faculty members are welcome to attend.  Due to limited space, please RSVP to CFA at cfa@mail.sdsu.edu if you would like to attend.
