Here is a status update on bargaining for our new faculty contract.

The CFA and CSU are currently in mediation. Mediation is one of the steps in the "statutory" collective bargaining process outlined in state labor law. When the two sides in a negotiation get to the point where they are not making progress, a neutral mediator attempts to help them resolve issues.

The first mediation session was held in mid-January and the next session is scheduled for mid-February. The mediation process is confidential, so we will learn about the outcome of the discussions when mediation is concluded. CFA's statewide leaders are hopeful that mediation can be completed as quickly and efficiently as possible, with the goal of achieving a fair contract at the bargaining table for faculty members.
