‘AB 46: Online Class Data’ on its way to governor’s desk

Assembly Bill 46, sponsored by CFA and authored by Assemblymember Richard Pan, has passed out of the state legislature and is on its way to the Governor’s desk. He has until September 30 to sign or veto this, and all, bills.

AB 46 would require the CSU Trustees to make available to the CSU Academic Senate the data being collected on students when they take online classes through the CSU.

Kevin Wehr, chair of the CFA Political Action & Legislation Committee said, “We are glad to see this important measure on its way to the governor.

“The faculty need accurate information from the CSU administration, as well as from the for-profit providers they contract with, so we can evaluate online classes.

“It is faculty, after all, who make sure students are getting the quality education they need and deserve,” Wehr said.
