CFA to Announce Contract Bargaining Themes

The first phase in CFA’s 2020 contract negotiations starts next week.  At the January 28-29 CSU Board of Trustees meeting, members of the CFA Bargaining Team will “sunshine” CFA’s proposals. Our current collective bargaining agreement expires June 30.

“Sunshine” bargaining proposals allow the public an opportunity to see the topics upon which each side intends to bargain.  Exchanging initial proposals is the first step in the bargaining process outlined by the Higher Education Employer-Employee Relations Act.

“We are excited to get started negotiating a successor contract that improves student and faculty diversity, provides more resources for student success such as hiring more tenure track faculty and mental health counselors, and supports salary equity and workload stability,” said CFA President Charles Toombs.

CFA Bargaining Team Members spent Fall term visiting each CSU campus to gather feedback from members.  Also, more than 7,000 members completed the bargaining survey to gauge priorities.  We’ll be rolling out more campus meetings starting in February; click here to see the schedule and check back for updates as meetings get scheduled.  We expect to begin negotiations in the next couple of months.
