CFA calls for more state funding for the CSU

On Jan. 8, Gov. Brown released his 2014/15 state budget plan. With revenues up, the plan begins to restore many pressing needs, including  public higher ed funding.

CFA Pres. Lillian Taiz noted the governor’s improved funding but explained why more is needed now to rebuild the CSU.

She wrote in a public statement on Monday, “While we appreciate the Governor’s recognition that public higher education needs greater investment after years of debilitating budget cuts, his proposal still leaves tens of thousands of California students out in the cold, clamoring for the university education that will help ensure a more prosperous future for our state.”

She urged legislators to support additional funding as outlined in Assembly Speaker John A. Pérez’ Blueprint for a Responsible Budget
