CFA Moved a Major Statewide Meeting Virtual to Get Work Done

Twice a year, CFA assembles for a statewide meeting of its officers, committees, and caucuses. But 2020 is unlike most years.

Officers and member delegates voted to suspend 2020 Spring Assembly due to COVID-19. But the work still goes on.

This past weekend, leadership, officers, committees, and caucuses met via Zoom (see picture) to conduct as much assembly-related business as possible.

“COVID-19 has uprooted our lives across the 23 CSU campuses,” CFA President Charles Toombs said. “But we cannot let the virus curtail our work or our spirits. These meetings showed the enthusiasm for our work and our members is only growing and I thank everyone for the continued hard work in their jobs and in their advocacy.”

Groups met Thursday through Saturday to discuss how COVID-19 has affected their work and how they plan to move forward. Those group included: Teacher Ed Caucus, Membership & Organizing Committee, Council of Presidents, Retired Faculty and Health & Retirement Benefits Committee, Indigenous Peoples Caucus, African American Caucus, Chicanx/Latinx Caucus, API Caucus, Political Action and Legislative Committee, Women’s Caucus, LBGT Caucus (which will now be referred as LGBTQIA+ Caucus), Coaches Committee, Counselors Committee, Librarians Committee, Council of Lecturers, Council for Racial & Social Justice, and the CFA Board of Directors.
