Help for faculty impacted by fires

Fires raging throughout the state have impacted several CSU campuses, but there is help for faculty who have experienced significant losses due to disaster in California.

Because of CFA’s affiliation with the California Teachers Association, our members have access to CTA’s Disaster Relief Fund, which maintains four types of grants for those affected.

“We are heartbroken that faculty, students, and members of our campus communities are facing such devastating loss as a result of the fires,” said CFA Treasurer Susan Green, who also serves on the CTA Board of Directors. “We are grateful to those bravely fighting these blazes, and to organizations, like CTA, whose members unite to protect themselves and each other.”

Assemblymember Tony Thurmond and Teamsters JC7 have teamed up to help fire victims in Northern California and are collecting bottled water, cases of water, and two liter water jugs. Donations can be dropped off at Thurmond’s District Office (1515 Clay Street, Suite 2201, Oakland) or Capitol Office (State Capitol, Room 4005, Sacramento). Teamsters JC7 will be taking the donations to the affected areas.
