Help Protect CSU Funding!

CFA is calling on members to contact your State Senator and Assemblymember and urge them to oppose funding cuts to the CSU.

The California State Legislature is moving steadfastly to pass the state budget by the constitutional deadline of June 15. This historic budget vote in both the Assembly and Senate could be more imminent than anticipated – in the next few days rather than in the next few weeks.

This budget vote is significant because Governor Newsom has proposed a 10 percent cut to the California State University (CSU) system’s overall 2020-21 budget – a potential fiscal impact of approximately $400 million. This 10 percent cut would be implemented without any additional funding from the federal government.

This is why now is the crucial time for CFA Members to reach out to Assemblymembers and Senators and ask them to support CFA’s budget priorities and to request state representatives prioritize funding for public higher education.

CFA has made great strides over the past few years urging lawmakers to reinvest in the CSU system, its students, faculty, and staff.

In light of the pandemic, as other sectors of the economy are engaging elected officials for their priorities, we too must continue our fight by calling and emailing our local statewide elected officials to reinforce CFA’s budget funding priorities as we move into the new fiscal year.

CFA is asking members to use your voice to support the ongoing funding of public higher education!
