BARGAINING SURVEY LAUNCHED, CAMPUS MEETINGS UNDERWAY: Last Thursday, CFA members received the widely anticipated Bargaining Survey. As mentioned previously in Headlines, this survey – which is open through November 25 – is a fundamental part of the bargaining process as it represents an opportunity for members to inform the Bargaining Team’s priorities and strategy. With our contract set to expire on June 30, 2020, the time is now to start building a foundation for our approach to negotiations and that starts with your input. In addition to the survey, another important vehicle through which members can learn more about bargaining and express their priorities is through the campus meetings taking place statewide.

Upcoming meetings include:

  • October 10 at Pomona
  • October 16 at San Jose, Sonoma, and Stanislaus

CFA MEMBERS AND SQE RALLY FOR ACTION ON CLIMATE CHANGE: A few days ago, on September 20, CSU students and faculty answered a global call to action by participating in Climate Strike, an event organized by a diverse group of partner organizations demanding immediate and concrete action in the fight against climate change. From Northern to Southern California, passionate activists left offices and classrooms, gathered in the streets, and demanded action from policymakers. The event was meant to bring attention to the severity of climate change in the run up to this week’s United Nations Climate Summit. CFA has been a strong supporter of this and other student climate action movements, having previously adopted a Resolution in Support of Student Climate Action

REMINDER: IT’S OPEN ENROLLMENT AT CALPERS: You may already be aware, as we covered this last week, but it bears mentioning again: it’s open enrollment time at CalPERS and we do not want any of our members to miss out on this important opportunity to make changes to their health care coverage plans. Open enrollment runs through October 4, so act now before this window closes. To find out more, please visit this informational page provided by the California State University.
