IT’S THE FINAL COUNTDOWN: Only five days remain for CFA members to submit responses to the bargaining survey. The CFA Bargaining Team thanks the thousands of members who have already responded and welcomes all members to share their input about the most pressing contract issues and areas that can be improved. Please complete the Bargaining Survey by the November 25 deadline. The information will serve as the basis for the Bargaining Team’s preparation for negotiations with CSU management, which are expected to start in early 2020.

CSU CHANCELLOR SEARCH COMMITTEE “LISTENING TOUR” CONTINUES: The third in a series of public forums organized by the Trustees as part of the search for the next CSU Chancellor was held today at the CSU Office of the Chancellor. The committee, which includes Trustees Jean Firstenberg, Debra Farar, Silas Abrego, Wenda Fong, Juan Garcia, Romey Sabalius, and Peter Taylor, will convene for three more public forums, all of which will be livestreamed: November 22, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. in the Student Services Building at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona; December 3, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. in the Student Union Ballroom at California State University, San Marcos; and December 5 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. in the Satellite Student Union at California State University, Fresno.

To help ensure faculty voices are heard, an open letter to the Board of Trustees was issued Wednesday by President Charles Toombs. The letter focuses on the importance of selecting a Chancellor who really understands who our students are and what they need to be successful. It reads in part, “Our new Chancellor should know that students need dedicated and ethnically diverse faculty who have equitable salaries, job security, a humane work-life balance, academic freedom, and respect for their intellectual property, in order to serve students well. Respecting academic freedom, our new Chancellor should defend the rights of faculty when they face hateful attacks or say something unpopular.”

For more information about the search or to “Nominate a Candidate” the public is invited to view this webpage or submit ideas via email at chancellorsearch@calstate.edu.
