CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS FOR THE CO-LIBERATION QUILT: Members are encouraged to submit a quilt panel for inclusion in CFA’s Equity Conference Co-Liberation Quilt: A Monument for Healing and Renewal.

As we continue to expand efforts uniting for racial and social justice as a union, we invite artists and other creative folks from all 23 campuses to contribute a quilt panel as part of an artistic centerpiece to be installed at the 2020 Equity Conference.

Participants are invited to create a quilt panel in advance of the conference and bring it with them, or through their chapter representatives attending. Collaborations across departments, member classifications, and faculty/students are welcome.  Because others may be inspired, we will provide supplies at the conference to create a panel on-site as part of the healing justice activities. There will be a ceremony and presentation of the quilt on the evening of February 28.

Please fill out the Google Form by February 23 with a brief description of design, narrative and/or intent for panel.  Visit the Equity Conference Quilt website to get more details on panel submissions.

EXPAND PARENTAL RIGHTS, SIGN THE PETITION!  CFA members Dr. Alma Itzé Flores (pictured with son, Xoaquín), Dr. Mercedes Valadez, and Dr. Michelle Soto-Peña are circulating an online petition in connection with CFA’s Bargaining Team in expanding parental rights.

Providing a family friendly environment for parents in academia is a necessary part of creating a campus culture that retains underrepresented faculty for our diverse student population. Addressed to the CSU Executive Management, the petition calls for one semester of paid parental leave, lactation rooms in all campus buildings that comply with state and federal laws, and affordable on-campus child-care for faculty.

Click here to read more and sign the petition.  Recruit your colleagues and students to complete as well.  Let’s champion a culture that supports a healthy work-life balance for all employees!
