EQUITY CONFERENCE SPEAKER FOCUS: CFA Member Loren Cannon will be a keynote speaker at CFA’s 2020 Equity Conference.  His talk is titled “Trans Directed Injustice: What We Need to Know, What We Need to Do.”

Cannon’s presentation will increase the informational foundation of Union siblings regarding the extent of the anti-trans sentiment of the current administration and the related social and political consequences.

Understanding this climate and the harms to trans and gender non-conforming persons that results requires an explicitly intersectional approach. While most anti-trans policies and proposals are authored to negatively affect all trans persons, it is undoubtedly the case that persons of color (especially women of color), the poor, the disabled, and the already marginalized are much more adversely affected than those who are white and/or have other privileges, said Cannon, who also teaches philosophy at Humboldt State.

There’s still time to register for the Conference, held February 28-29.  Visit the Conference website to find out more information, and contact your campus Executive Board to register.
