Staff union holding online survey regarding presidential searches

Frustrated with the secretive nature of searches for campus presidents, California State University Employees Union is encouraging staff, faculty and the campus community to take an online survey.

The CSU Board of Trustees amended the Trustees Policy for the selection of presidents in 2011, allowing the Chancellor and chair of the Trustees Committee for the Selection of the President to decide whether the name of a particular candidate would be made public.

Until that time, the names of campus presidential search finalists and their official campus visit itineraries were routinely made public, the survey reports.

Since 2011, CSU management has conducted several presidential searches, but none have included public announcements of finalists or visits to campus.

The survey, which takes a few minutes to complete, is available here.
