State Board of Education appoints CFA officer as content review expert

One of CFA’s most energetic activists was recently appointed to serve as a content review expert for the State Board of Education.

Susan Green, CFA Treasurer and an Associate Professor of Chicano Studies at CSU Chico, was appointed to the post during the State Board of Education’s meeting Jan. 11-12.

As a content review expert, Green will evaluate instructional materials for the 2017 History-Social Science Adoption.

As a Content Review Expert, Green will work on the alignment of K-8 instructional materials, adopted standards, and the 2016 History and Social Science Framework.

“I am excited to have the opportunity to collaborate with K-12 and Higher Education colleagues from around the state to facilitate student engagement with the content and skills necessary to become lifelong learners in History and Social Science,” she said. “Theory, method, and content are always evolving. Ensuring students are exposed to the best practices and content, that match the diversity of experiences in our state, is very important to me.”

Green also serves as District Q Director for the California Teachers Association. CTA is an affiliate of CFA.
