Meet Your CFA Bargaining Team Series Continues

As negotiations progress on a new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) for the CSU’s 29,000 faculty, it’s time to meet members of the CFA Bargaining Team. We’ll be highlighting a few members each week for the rest of the term.

This week, Kevin Wehr, Nichelle Henderson, Vang Vang, and Gwen Urey share why they wanted to be on the Bargaining Team and what they hope to see in a new contract.

As we celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, CFA recognizes and appreciates our Asian Pacific Islander Desi American (APIDA) leaders who have contributed to making our union and the APIDA caucus stronger and more forward-thinking.

CFA SETTLES CASE OVER RACIST, HOSTILE WORK ENVIRONMENT: Recently,CFA successfully mediated a settlement for a Sacramento State faculty member. In the grievance, CFA noted that the university violated CFA’s Collective Bargaining Agreement by producing an unsafe and hostile work environment for Dr. David Moore, based on Moore’s race and ethnicity. The grievance placed blame on the campus for not training faculty on how to handle disputes without involving the campus police.


Faculty Rights Tip of the Week: June Deadline for Notification of Tenure and/or Promotion

Under Article 13, regarding tenure in our Collective Bargaining Agreement, June 1 is the contractual deadline for local campus administrators to notify probationary faculty of the final decision regarding retention, appointment with tenure, or appointment to a final terminal year.
