November 5-8: Help to Get Out the Vote. CSU faculty, staff, students and supporters can sign up to volunteer online at http://www.calfac.org/take-political-action. Or contact your campus CFA chapter for time & places.

November 8 Election Day: Please Vote! Use the CFA Voter Guide to see your personalized list of CFA-endorsed candidates and propositions. If you still have a vote-by-mail ballot, bring it to your poll. Urge others to vote. Volunteer to help turn out voters on election day near your campus.

CFA 84TH Assembly: Action time for the CSU

The mood was upbeat and intense at CFA’s 84th Assembly, held near San Francisco last weekend, as more than 160 delegates met in caucuses and committees, in plenary and workshops, to explore the big issues confronting public higher education, the CSU in particular.


Assembly greeted by Jane Kim—State Senate candidate, advocate for working families

San Francisco Supervisor Jane Kim, a candidate for State Senate District 11, dropped by the CFA Assembly last weekend to talk about the need to protect working families and advocate for public education and students.


Assembly urges members to use the Fair Hotel Program for academic and professional meetings

CFA delegates adopted a resolution at the CFA Assembly last weekend calling on CFA and faculty members and members of the CSU community to use the Fair Hotel Program.


CSU execs call for 2017 hike in student tuition/fees

CSU Chancellor Timothy White advised leaders of the California State Student Association on Sept. 29 that his management is considering student tuition increases starting with the 2017-18 academic year, when the current moratorium on these hikes comes to an end. The moratorium was required by Gov. Brown in 2013 in return for his support for state funding increases for the CSU.


State Sen. Ricardo Lara on why vote Yes on 58
California Faculty magazine feature

The Fall 2016 edition of California Faculty magazine, available online and in print through your campus CFA chapter, features a special guest article by State Sen. Ricardo Lara (D-Bell Gardens), who is author of Proposition 58 on the Nov. 8 ballot. Prop 58 will restore multilingual education in California.


Faculty Rights Tip: What is Lecturer Range Elevation, and When/Why Should I Apply?

Lecturer range elevation refers to an increase in salary by movement from one salary range to the next. If granted, a range elevation brings a salary increase of at least 5% (Article 31.6).
