Online voting begins Monday at 6 am on the tentative agreement to extend the CSU faculty collective bargaining agreement by two years, until June 30, 2020.


Students in Action: Unity Block Party Oct. 31 @ CSUF to stand for better values

Students at CSU campuses in Southern California will celebrate justice and diversity at a “Unity Block Party” at CSU Fullerton next Tuesday, October 31.

“Try an alternative with us,” says a student organizer, adding, “Our event is going to be better” referring to a purposefully offensive talk by right-wing self-promoter Milo Yiannopoulos to be offered the same day by campus Republicans.

Faculty Rights Tip: What to do when you want to report discrimination, harassment, or retaliation

Article 16 of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, the “Non-Discrimination” article, “prohibits discrimination against faculty unit employees on the basis of race, color, religion, ancestry, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, genetic information, marital status, pregnancy, age, disability, medical condition, or veteran status.”


In Other News…

Calaveras Teachers Strike: The Calaveras Unified Educators Association won a tentative agreement on their contract this week after a four-day strike. The action came after nearly two years of bargaining. It is a small union of about 140 teachers, and CFA stepped up to assist with a donation to the union’s hardship fund and with tweets and Facebook posts of support. CFA issued a statement today congratulating them. ¡Viva La Huelga!
