CFA chapters on all 23 CSU campuses are readying for action on November 17, when faculty and supporters will descend on the CSU Chancellor’s Office during a Trustees’ meeting to demand that the faculty voice be heard.

In November 2006 over 1500 faculty, students, and staff marched on the CSU’s headquarters.

Strike Authorization Vote completed; Results next week

Voting by CFA members on whether to authorize a strike in the CSU system ended at 5 pm today. Over the next few days, paper ballot boxes will be gathered from the 23 campuses for a count under the supervision of a neutral third party.

The results will be announced at 10 am next Wednesday, November 4.

CFA Chapters Mobilize: 23 Legislators Urge Chancellor White to Invest in Faculty

California lawmakers are sending strong letters to Chancellor Timothy White urging him to invest in faculty and quality instruction for students.

The latest of the 23 to write are Assemblymember Cheryl Brown (San Bernardino), Jim Frazier (Oakley), Assemblymembers Bill Dodd (Napa), Cristina Garcia (Bell Gardens), Mike Gatto (Glendale), Freddie Rodriguez (Pomona), and Jim Wood (Sonoma) along with Senator Richard Pan (Sacramento).

Campus CFA Chapter leaders have played a big role in reaching out.

CUNY faculty to take Strike Authorization Vote

Faculty at City University of New York, much like faculty here in the CSU, are at the end of their patience.

Last Thursday, CUNY’s Professional Staff Congress president, Barbara Bowen, announced in a message to members that they will take a Strike Authorization Vote sometime in the next few months.

Cal State Faculty Turn to Students for Help in Labor Dispute

California State University faculty members continue voting today as to whether they should strike over pay. The union is demanding a 5 percent pay hike. CSU officials are offering a 2 percent bump.
