Nate Thomas

Nate Thomas is the President for the CFA CSUN Chapter. He is a tenured Professor of Cinema and Television Arts where he heads the film production program. Nate teaches such courses as CTVA 351 Anatomy of Film Producing, CTVA 355 Intermediate Film Production, and CTVA 452 Senior Film Project where he oversees the senior thesis films.

Nate has directed and/or produced numerous film projects including award-winning PBS documentaries, television commercials, public service announcements, feature films, etc. 

He received an Emmy Award in 2014 for directing/producing for the FBI a series of 30 second television PSAs about the dangers of counterfeit clothing, music piracy and theft of trade secrets. Thomas had previously received a commendation from then FBI Director Robert Mueller for earlier PSA work on child cyber predators.

In 2015 he was honored with a CSU Wang Family Excellence Award, an honor considered to be the highest faculty honor in the CSU system. In 2018 he received an honor from the Los Angeles Chapter of the National Congress of Black Women and a commendation from the California State Senate.

Nate enjoys activism with CFA and loves lobbying with CFA in both Sacramento and in the districts.
