CFA Lobby Days coming to State Capitol
April 6 & 7

More than 100 faculty, staff and students will be at the State Capitol April 6-7 to advocate for the much-needed higher education funding for the CSU and a bill that would protect student access to affordable courses.

The two-day event begins Monday, April 6 when CFA leaders and activists will hear from Assemblymember Kevin McCarty (D-Sacramento). On Tuesday, CFA “citizen-lobbyists” will be at the Capitol to meet with legislators and their staff about why the CSU needs a substantial funding increase beyond what is allocated within Gov. Jerry Brown’s 2015-16 state budget.

They also will speak to lawmakers about a bill focused on “supplanting” state-funded course sections with more expensive extended education course offerings.

CFA also is planning to hold a rally on the south steps of the Capitol at noon on Tuesday, April 7. Labor allies, in support of increased public higher education funding, will also participate.
