Contract Countdown: Bargaining in June

CFA’s Bargaining Team will be across the negotiating table from the CSU administration once again this Thursday and Friday, pushing for progress on the next CSU faculty contract.

CFA’s Team expects a comprehensive response from the administration on the contract issues that CFA has laid out through May.

“The issues before us are pretty clear,” says CFA Bargaining Team chair Andy Merrifield. “Each of us in the faculty are well acquainted with salaries that have been stagnant for six years while work demands have become excessive.

“We are closing in on the expiration of the current contract,” says Merrified. “We want to bring home a timely contract for our faculty.

“More importantly, we want it to be a fair contract. After so many years, we deserve that,” and he added, ”The recession has taken a terrible toll on all of us. From having to teach larger and larger classes through furloughs and cuts to class offerings and a wide array of educational support functions.”

In addition to this Thursday and Friday, bargaining is slated for June 19-20, and beginning June 26 through the end of the contract on June 30.
