"Celebrating Solidarity"

Below is a letter from Pride at Work to CFA. LGBT Caucus Co-Chair, Scott Saarheim, will be attending the ‘Celebrating Solidarity’ event.

We appreciate your support of Pride at Work and the LGBT Labor Leadership Initiative for our past “Celebrating Solidarity” events. This year – our 20th year working hard for LGBT labor and our allies – we have more to celebrate than ever! From marriage equality sweeping the nation to several international unions adopting pro-LGBT platforms and policies, equality is on the march with the support of the labor movement.

California Faculty Association is one of our strongest allies and we hope you will consider making a sponsorship contribution for our fifth annual “Celebrating Solidarity” event. As in years past, the event is a fundraiser cocktail reception featuring hearty hors d’oeuvres and a festive celebration of community/labor coalition organizing with lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender labor & our allies.

 Tuesday, December 9th 6:30 pm–8:30 pm

 AFL-CIO in Washington, DC (815 16th St, NW)

This year being our 20th anniversary, we wanted to do something special, so we have contacted all of the founders of Pride at Work we could locate and we’ll be honoring them collectively for their work and dedication to labor and LGBT equality.

We will also be honoring Congressman George Miller (CA-11) and Congressman Mark Pocan (WI-2). Rep. Miller is retiring from Congress this year after four decades and we will honor his long career fighting for working people and progressive values. Rep. Pocan will be honored for his lifelong support of labor and his strong leadership on LGBT and labor issues as a relative newcomer to Congress. And just to add to the excitement, we’ve also lined up a very special guest emcee for the evening, A. Philip Randolph Institute President Clayola Brown.

Your continued support is vital to continuing to build an inclusive labor movement that ensures the safety and dignity of all workers. We are truly grateful for your past generous sponsorships. This year’s sponsorship levels range from $1,500 to $10,000. Individual tickets are also for sale at $75 per person. We have included our sponsorship form for your consideration.

With CFA at our side, Pride at Work can continue to be the voice of LGBT working people.

If you have any questions or for more information about becoming a sponsor for our 2014 event, please contact our Executive Director, Jerame Davis at 202-637-5014 or Thank you for all of the work that you do to advocate for working families. We hope to hear from you soon.
