Ratification Vote results
Thank you to key HSU activists

In the on-line vote held from April 22 to 29, the result was a 97 percent vote approving the Tentative Agreement on faculty salaries.

What we gained

The ratified agreement includes a 5% General Salary Increase (GSI) for all faculty as of June 30, 2016; a 2% GSI for all faculty on July 1, 2016; and a 3.5% GSI for all faculty as of July 1, 2017. It also includes a 2.65% Service Salary Increase for eligible faculty, a higher minimum at promotion for tenure-line faculty (9%, up from 7.5%), and a commitment to reform range elevation for lecturer faculty.

The ratified agreement will now go before the CSU Board of Trustees at its May 24-25 meeting.  The salary adjustments are expected to be included in paychecks starting in September or October.

This outstanding agreement was made possible because it became clear to the Chancellor that we were prepared to mount a successful and effective faculty strike.

It took a lot of work to organize for a strike.  We want to note the commitment of the dozens of Department Strike Coordinators who organized their colleagues, and also thank the faculty members who attended our weekly Fight for Five meetings.  In particular, Benjamin Shaeffer and Gisela Chappelle, as members of our Strike Steering Committee, put in a tremendous amount of time and energy, and all of us owe them a debt of gratitude.
