Strike dates set
April 13-15 and 18-19

CFA announced yesterday that dates have been set for a possible CSU system-wide faculty strike.

The strike would occur simultaneously on all 23 CSU campuses on April 13-15 and April 18-19, if a settlement is not reached with the Chancellor’s office in our fight for a 5 percent raise for all faculty members.

We don’t want to strike, but we will

In the event of a strike, we will be organizing picket lines on campus.  You will hear more from us in the coming weeks about planning for picket lines and a strike.

We have said all along that we don’t want to strike, but we will, if that’s what it takes to receive fair and reasonable compensation.  CFA is fighting for a 5 percent raise for 2015-16 for all faculty members, plus an SSI (“step increase”) for all eligible faculty. Going on strike is our last resort; Chancellor White has had the ability to settle this salary dispute for almost two years.  This fight is about compensation, but it is also about protecting the integrity of our profession and providing high quality education to our students.

No faculty member wants to hurt their students, but we know that the CSU’s disinvestment in instruction already takes a terrible toll on students.  The administration cannot say that they are putting students first when they consistently put faculty last.
