Update: Equity Pay Increase request

In late October, CFA asked President Hirshman to begin a process to institute a salary equity program for faculty members on our campus.  Pay raises are long overdue.  Our current CFA-CSU Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) allows SDSU to address salary inequities through a campus-based equity program and provide faculty salary increases right now. 

We have learned that CSU Chancellor White wishes to discuss this issue with the CSU campus presidents at a meeting scheduled for early December.  As a result, it may be several weeks before we learn whether President Hirshman intends to meet our request for a new Equity Pay program.

Bargaining Dates Scheduled
Our Unit 3 faculty contract expires on June 30, 2014.  CFA and the CSU are scheduled to begin contract talks on December 12 for our new contract.  Additional bargaining dates are also scheduled for January and February.

CFA campus membership growing
Our campus CFA membership rate both for tenured/tenure-track faculty members and benefits-eligible Lecturers has grown to nearly 70%.  Reaching this percentage is significant — a high membership rate increases our clout at the bargaining table.  If you are not yet a CFA member, please send in a membership form or contact the chapter office at x42775
