Dear Colleagues,

We write to provide you with an important update on the status of our bargaining with CSU management, especially as we move into the summer months. Bargaining came to a sudden halt in early May of this year when the CSU management bargaining team refused to meet with us. In response, we filed an unfair practice charge against CSU management for violating state labor law, given that they refused to bargain in good faith with faculty.

To make sure faculty are still afforded the rights and benefits of our contract, we signed a short extension through September 1, 2025. This is a common step to take when negotiations are ongoing. The extension does not extend provisions of the contract that have specific end dates. This includes expanded range elevation under the full-time adjusted service years eligibility criteria. This is why it is imperative that CSU management come back to the table to bargain, their intransigence will harm faculty.

We are eager to begin bargaining and hope that CSU management will re-engage in meaningful negotiations over the real issues affecting our faculty.

Sincerely,

Margarita Berta-Avila, CFA President
Kevin Wehr, CFA Chair of Bargaining
