The Program Director reports to the Director of ARSJ to assist in the strategic development of ARSJ programs and work with CFA departments, faculty leaders, and staff to ensure a broad knowledge and implementation of CFA’s ARSJ principles. In addition, the Program Director will work to expand the external reach of the program.
The Program Director must demonstrate ability in assisting with strategy operations within a union/progressive organization setting and have “hands-on” experience in implementing anti-racism programs around organizational goals, with the ability to implement a vision for a strategic program. The goal of the Program Director is to ensure the continued growth and success of the ARSJ program, providing for successful delivery to add the highest possible value to the organization.
Applicant must be a self-motivated, deadline-oriented individual with a willingness and desire to learn new skills, and work with people in academia and in labor unions.
Essential Job Duties:
- Works to support the ARSJ Director in initiating and setting goals for ARSJ programs according to the strategic objectives and ARSJ principles of the organization;
- Drafts and revises proposals to advance ARSJ work;
- Assists the ARSJ Director with the planning, creation, and implementation of ARSJ programming, including workshops, podcasts, webinars, written works, and organizational and bargaining proposals;
- Assists ARSJ Director in designing processes for the development and support of program and workshop facilitators;
- Assists the ARSJ Director in developing ways to promote CFA and generate program funding;
- Identifies and develops relationships with CSU ARSJ focused organizations and community-based organizations committed to CFA ARSJ principles;
- Assists the ARSJ Director in developing budgets and operations procedures;

Salary/Benefits/Location: CFA offers a fully paid benefit package including medical, dental, vision, SEIU defined benefit pension plan and generous paid leave. This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement; salary range is $64.480.00 – $131,405.49 commensurate with experience.

The Representation and Field Support Administrative Assistant reports to the Director of Bargaining & Representation and provides general administrative support to the Field and Representation departments.
Applicant must be a self-motivated, deadline-oriented individual with a willingness and desire to learn new skills and work with people in academia and in labor unions.
Essential Job Duties
- Maintains accurate contact information by updating phone lists, and providing such lists to staff and organizational leaders on as needed;
- Assists in producing information by composing, formatting, typing, editing, and mailing correspondence;
- Compiles, maintains, and distributes multiple organizational lists, calendars, and schedules;
- Ensures successful small and large group meetings by scheduling, tracking attendance, duplicating and sharing materials, arranging meeting logistics, and providing administrative support at the meeting site;
- Provides office assistance as needed, including filing, copying, correspondence, and anchoring projects;
The ideal candidate will have the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Previous union experience, and/or experience with activism and/or community organizing is preferred;
- A strong commitment to advancing racial and social justice transformation in the union movement, the university and beyond;

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Discretion in handling sensitive information;
- Capacity to be a “team player” and work with a variety of staff and elected member volunteers;
- Capacity to operate generally used office equipment and familiarity with office software, including Word, Excel, Zoom, Canva, web browsers, and email;
- Capacity to learn and become proficient at database systems
- Work collaboratively and strategically with CFA officers, members, interns, and staff;

CFA is seeking a Communications Specialist to join the Research and Communications department and anchor our internal and external communications and media programs. Our Internal communications include a weekly email newsletter, specialized member communications and campaign materials, and other printed and electronic media. External communications includes maintaining an active website and social media presence, developing an earned media strategy, and supporting public actions and other events.
Our team is excited to welcome an applicant who brings their creativity and a willingness and desire to learn; she/he/they will be experienced working in the labor movement or related social justice organizations and actively contribute to CFA’s commitment to anti-racism and social justice. They must be self-motivated, deadline-oriented individual with a willingness and desire to learn new skills, and work with people in labor unions and academia.
Essential Job Duties:
- Writes, reviews, and edits weekly email newsletter to members;
- Develops messaging consistent with organizational mission and priorities;
- Anti-racism and social justice transformation, including intentionally working to infuse anti-racist and social justice values into the everyday work of CFA;
- Develops print and digital materials, including multi-media presentations for statewide events;
- Trains elected member leaders and active members for media interviews and other speaking engagements;
- Writes press releases, op-eds, brochures, fact sheets, talking points; and other materials, in collaboration with Research and Communications team.
- Coordinates press interviews and media event logistics;
- Monitors and creates content for organization’s digital presence;
- Assist with mass email and text campaigns, including data and list management;
- Develops and maintains productive relationships with CFA officers, members, interns and staff.
