CFA-Endorsed CalPERS Candidates Score Important Wins

CFA members’ endorsed CalPERS candidates, David Miller and Troy Johnson, have won their elections! 

Here are the results: 

Position A 

Miller – 76,705 – 53.90% 

Bei – 31,201 – 21.94% 

Merrell – 34,319 – 24.13% 

Position B 

Johnson – 73,787 – 52.25% 

Pacheco – 46,128 – 32.60% 

Akkad – 21,293 – 15.00% 

Thank you to all our members who submitted their votes to ensure that our pension dollars are managed responsibly. 

Our pensions are a significant part of the total compensation that we receive as public education faculty members. Much of our retirement security depends heavily upon ensuring that our pension plans remain strong. 

Pension plans also create an incentive to retain qualified and lifelong educators who can really enable student success and create stable teaching and working environments. 

Through our wins, we’re hoping to preserve access to affordable healthcare and maintain our union’s pension plan at 100% funding.
