Oct 21 Bargaining Town Hall: PERB Charge Settlement Reached
Our CFA Bargaining Team has reached a settlement with CSU management’s bargaining team through a Public Employment Relations Board (PERB) settlement conference on Wednesday that will enable us to get back to the table after months of management delays. We encourage all members to join us this coming Tuesday, October 21, from 6:30 – 8pm to obtain more information.
We had previously filed an unfair labor practice charge against CSU management for their refusal to bargain in good faith over ground rules, specifically over our demands to allow CFA members to participate on Zoom through open bargaining. However, after months of waiting for the PERB charge process to move forward, our team made a strategic decision to drop our charge, so we could get back to the table and begin the urgent work of improving faculty working conditions through bargaining.
Open bargaining continues to be central to our values as a union, and we are committed to ensuring transparency and access to our bargaining process as CFA. However, for this current contract negotiation, we will be limited to only having a 52 member bargaining team when meeting with management. Despite management’s objections to open bargaining, CFA is committed to high member participation throughout the bargaining process, and we will discuss some strategies as well as hear from you about other ways we can all move together in solidarity throughout the bargaining process.
Our goal is to win a contract that strengthens the rights of our members and improves our working conditions at a time when the core values of public education are under severe attack. To that end, your representative bargaining team has worked hard drafting proposals on many of the 41 articles of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. We are well prepared and eager to meet with management immediately.
Once again, we encourage all members to join us on Tuesday from 6:30 – 8pm to obtain more information, share feedback, and strategize together on how we move our fight forward. REGISTER HERE.
