We like to honor our membership for working toward social justice for all. One way we do that is through the Sacramento Chapter’s Dr. Lila Jacobs Social Justice and Organizing Award. This yearly award is our Grammy, our Oscar, our Lila! The awardee truly personifies the future for which Dr. Jacobs fought hard, a university system and structure that is freed from the clutches of injustice.
What is this award all about?
We are currently accepting nominations for the Dr. Lila Jacobs Social Justice and Organizing Award, so lift up a colleague, or yourself, with our Nomination Form. Lila Jacobs was a dedicated professor of educational leadership and the first woman president of the Sacramento chapter of the California Faculty Association. In both roles, she was a tireless advocate for students and faculty. This award acknowledges the legacy of Dr. Jacobs as an outstanding organizer and champion of social justice.
Who should be nominated?
The Award is given to a CFA activist on our campus that exemplifies the principles of equity, solidarity, and justice that Lila dedicated her life to. We are seeking nominations of CFA members who go above and beyond to uphold and advocate for social justice both on campus and in the community.
