In these challenging times, it is imperative that decisions involving instruction and service delivery at CSU campuses are made in collaboration with faculty, students and staff. The health, safety, and welfare of all faculty, students, staff, their families, and our campus communities must guide all plans for in-person teaching, on-campus living, and other activities.

CFA agrees with most education experts: that face-to-face instruction is the best mode of learning for students for many reasons, including irreplaceable personal interaction and effective curriculum delivery.  However, safety must come first.

CFA will continue to engage with CSU management in finding the best ways forward as our state and country grapple with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. As we’ve done since March, CFA will work on behalf of the front line lecturers, tenure-track faculty, librarians, counselors, and coaches in the CSU system to make sure that they have the resources, training, and opportunity to provide the education and support programs our students need to complete their schooling and succeed in their careers and dreams.

Earlier this year, CFA laid out our path forward to protect the health and safety of faculty, students, and staff, higher education, student access to the CSU, racial and socioeconomic equity, and faculty contractual rights, jobs, and benefits. CFA will continue that work into 2021.
