CFA HOSTS DEBATE WATCH PARTY:  More than 50 CFA members attended our watch party and text bank, where CFA colleagues offered each other emotional support, informed voters about important election initiatives, and watched a fly become the star of the Vice Presidential debate October 7!

Thanks to our hard work that night, we received 540 “yes” responses on Propositions 15 and 16! We also helped the North Valley Labor Federation send 30,000 texts!

Congrats to our prize winners:

  • Sonoma’s Elaine Newman for most texts sent
  • Sacramento’s Jonathan Chen for most yes commitments from voters
  • Shradha Tibrewal from Stanislaus and Judith Scott from Fresno for most negative/bizarre responses from voters

CFA HOLDS TWO MORE DISCUSSION AND ACTION BROWN BAGS: Building on our successful September Days of Action, CFA will host two additional Brown Bag events on October 20 and 27 from 4 to 6 p.m. in support of Proposition 16 and Proposition 15. Registration is required; you can register here.

On October 20, Senators Maria Elena Durazo and Connie Leyva will join us for a discussion of the fight for racial and gender equity and how Proposition 16 will level the playing field for everyone to succeed, especially women and people of color.  On October 27, we’ll be joined by State Treasurer Fiona Ma and State Controller Betty Yee for a conversation about Proposition 15, which will raise desperately needed funds for our schools and local governments by making large corporations pay their fair share.

We will also include a Q&A segment, along with training before phone banking. For more information, please contact Kelly Burns at kburns@calfac.org or Ania Garbien at agarbien@calfac.org.
