SFSU Faculty Protests Continue Over Campus Layoffs
More than 200 people again protested at the edge of San Francisco State University on Saturday to oppose campus layoffs.
Protestors are calling on SFSU leaders to chop from the top and cut administrators instead of staff. There was a circular marching picket line, chanting, and car caravan. Protestors stayed six feet apart and wore masks, adhering to safety guidelines amidst the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
About a dozen faculty members showed up to support CSUEU staff members. CSU Employees Union (CSUEU) plans to organize additional protests. The CSU is deciding to cut staff positions while sitting on more than $1.5 billion in reserves.
