Assembly District 79 Special Election Update
Preliminary results are in for the Assembly District 79 Special Election and Dr. Akilah Weber currently leads by a significant margin. She currently holds 52 percent of the vote, which puts her above the 50 percent threshold to avoid a runoff for the open seat. CFA endorsed Dr. Weber in February. She is the daughter of current Secretary of State Dr. Shirley Weber, a longtime representative of AD 79. Weber is currently the La Mesa City Council Vice Mayor. Results will be certified on April 15.
