AAUP is a nonprofit membership association of faculty and other academic professionals. Headquartered in Washington, D.C., since 1915 AAUP has shaped higher education in the United States by developing the standards and procedures that maintain quality in education and academic freedom in this country’s colleges and universities. AAUP also publishes the Journal of Academic Freedom. AAUP has members and chapters based at colleges and universities across the country. Some campus AAUP chapters also have collective bargaining rights like Rutgers University or the University of Oregon.
