Vote-by-mail ballots for the November 4 statewide special election on Prop 50 have arrived! County election officials were required to begin mailing each registered voter a ballot no later than October 6.

CFA members are proud to keep advancing our “YES on Prop 50” campaign. We are voting for Prop 50 to fight back against fascism and to protect higher education.

The federal administration is undermining higher education by revoking visas, withholding grant funding, and stifling academic freedom. The U.S. Department of Education is ending the grant program for Hispanic-Serving Institutions, hurting 21 of our CSU campuses. The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Office is amplifying these attacks on CSU faculty.

We’re also witnessing this fascist federal political establishment attack immigrants who are our community members, students, friends, and family. They passed a budget that rips healthcare away from millions of working people to line the pockets of billionaires.

But the next Congress can be different.

The next Congress can check authoritarian power.
The next Congress can defend immigrants, students, and faculty.
The next Congress can protect healthcare and academic freedom.

California didn’t ask to be at the center of this national fight. But here we are. And the choice before us is clear: put a check on fascism or accept it.
