CFA Sacramento Chapter is proud to partner with NorCal Resist, a regional non-profit that provides support for immigrants, refugees, and other community members through direct food and financial aid, Migra watch programs, free brake light repair clinics, a mutual aid farm, monthly diaper distributions and more!

NorCal Resist is active with immigrant rights organizing and mutual aid efforts across the broader Sacramento region–with Migra watch teams that stretch up to the Nevada border! Over several years, CFA Sacramento has sought to strengthen our connections with NCR and other community organizations that share our vision of justice and equity. Our Chapter hosted NCR last Spring for a workshop on developing an immigration enforcement response program on campus. Through education and community support networks, we are better equipped to support our students, staff, and fellow faculty members at risk from ICE terror.

Some CFA members have volunteered their time at NCR’s Seeds of Solidarity Farm in West Sacramento, where community members are provided with hands-on environmental education and much-needed resources. We have connected people on campus to monthly food and diaper distributions. Several other CFA members have become active volunteers with NCR through ICE watch groups and daily accompaniment and monitoring at the federal immigration court (in the John Moss Federal Building at 650 Capitol Mall). Powered by volunteers, the Court Watch program helps us keep an eye on enforcement proceedings and connect with people’s families, initiate deportation defense systems, and provide bail funds in the event someone is detained. Nearly every day at least one person enters through the front of the building for a court appearance or routine ICE check-in and doesn’t come out. We know that the violence of family separation and immigration enforcement has already touched members of our campus.
Recently, the CFA Sacramento Chapter Political Action and Legislation Group (PA/Leg) decided to award $5,000 to NorCal Resist through our “People Power” fund. Through this fund, our chapter empowers other community organizations to further their necessary work in supporting members of our broader community during this time of rising fascism. Chapter Executive Board members voted to distribute the total amount of the annual fund to NCR in recognition of their dedication to supporting the most vulnerable members of our community at Sac State and beyond! If you want to learn more about NCR, check out their instagram: @norcal_resist and the full calendar of events on their website: norcalresist.org.
