CFA Statement on ICE Raids and Detainment of David Huerta
Today labor leader and SEIU CA President, David Huerta was detained while peacefully exercising his First Amendment rights at an ICE raid in Los Angeles.
President Huerta was pepper sprayed and injured while advocating for immigrant rights and standing up to injustice. He remains in custody after being treated for his injuries. We are urging all workers to defend the people who contribute so much to our nation. An injury to one is an injury to all! When ICE comes into our neighborhoods targeting our communities and hurting our leaders, we show up! United to protect families.
CFA condemns the violence against our comrade and criminalization of immigrants. We join our union siblings in calling for his immediate release.
