Meet the New Capital Chapter Executive Board
LEADERSHIP UPDATESWe're welcoming new leaders and honoring outgoing board members as we begin 2025-26. See who's stepping up and how our structure is evolving.
The start of June kicks off our new 2025-2026 CFA calendar year! We wanted to start by announcing your new Capitol Chapter Executive Board. But before we do, we need to acknowledge a few board members who will no longer be serving and thank them for a job well done. We are stronger together, so undoubtedly each loss will be felt in some magnitude – but their efforts will be embedded in the traditions and work we carry into the new year.
With Our Deepest Gratitude…
We’d like to thank the following outgoing Capitol Chapter Executive Board members for their service to our collective work. Please join us by expressing your gratitude when you see them around campus:
- Secretary Ben Amata (Library), the longest-serving member of our Board! Ben provided wisdom from his deep knowledge of campus throughout his 11 years of CFA Board service.
- Early Career Faculty Representative Ruby Mendoza (Assistant Professor, English), who provided advice and support to our new colleagues in transitioning to Sacramento State.
- Tenure-Track Faculty Delegate Jackie Carrigan (Professor, Sociology), who represented our interests at Statewide CFA Assemblies.
- Most-recent President Anne Luna (Associate Professor, Sociology), who led our chapter through two strikes, numerous contract wins, and ARSJ actions. Luna will be staying on and moving into a new role as chapter Secretary.
Exciting Changes Afoot!

You may notice that the structure of our leadership has shifted. We are piloting a new Co-President model next year, in which the President (Alma Flores) and Vice President (Mya Dosch) will work alongside each other as co-Presidents. This is a model used by two other CFA chapters already, and we think it will make our organizing nimbler and more effective.
The Capitol Chapter Executive Board is working over the summer to ensure rights are respected, and to plan and build for the upcoming year. For now, keep up to date with the Capital Chapter Newsletter Headlines, but ALSO be on the lookout for new ways to stay connected with CFA that will be coming in the fall!
Reach out to Mya Dosch at mdosch@calfac.org and get involved as a College Advocate next year and join in our collective work!
