Every CFA chapter will be holding actions either this week or next week to encourage members to get out and vote. Many actions will include in-person voting opportunities, so we encourage you to attend your campus action and cast your vote on authorizing a strike on site! What’s At Stake for Your Next Contract
García has been adamantly anti-labor and pro-corporation throughout her tenure as chancellor. Even though many faculty struggle to secure food and housing for their families, she recently paid millions to a private consulting firm to get them to produce bogus studies that claim faculty are well-compensated and that campus presidents making exorbitant salaries—were tragically underpaid. But that’s not all. García also:
- Outright refuses to guarantee that our full-time salaries are at least 10% of hers (currently $79,500) or to make sure that our salaries can keep up with inflation with an annual Cost-of-Living Adjustment + 2%, Service Salary Increases (SSIs) and Post-Promotion Increases (PPIs), or to expand our systemwide equity program to help with salary compression and inversion.
- Actively erodes Academic Freedom when we have demanded protections for faculty.
- Gave millions in contracts to AI mega-corporations without bargaining with CFA and has rejected our contract demands on AI.
- Opposes every proposal we have related to workload, including addressing unmanageable class size, a cap on tenure-track teaching loads, compensation for service work, and flexibility in counselor and librarian work schedules.
If you believe García and CSU management have treated you beneath your worth and you’re ready to fight back, now is the time to make it known through your vote.
Only CFA members can cast a vote. If you have colleagues who are not members, encourage them to join. Shortly after they sign up, they will receive an electronic ballot to vote.
