Faculty have two weeks left to vote on whether to authorize the CFA Board of Directors to initiate job actions, up to and including striking, if certain contract conditions are met. Read more on our expansive CFA bargaining proposals here.

Voting “YES” on your Strike Authorization Ballot means you are ready to go on strike to win the contract we deserve. It tells CFA leaders that you are willing to fight for improvements to the salary, workload, and appointment articles of our collective bargaining agreement, as well as brand new protections around AI and Academic Freedom. Again, read more on our CFA bargaining proposals here.

Only CFA members can vote, and those who aren’t members can join today. Activating your membership during the workday will allow you to vote the day after.

But voting “NO” or not participating sends an entirely different message. It means you are willing to accept what Chancellor Mildred García’s bargaining team presented at the table. Management’s proposals include:

  • A one-time payment (a 3% lump sum that does not go to base and is taxable) and a 3% General Salary Increase upon ratification, which does not allow faculty pay to keep up with inflation
  • An agreement to bargain away faculty health care benefits in the future
  • No guardrails or protections on the use of AI and only a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that expires regarding the technology
  • No protections for Academic Freedom other than citing language from a 1971 policy that is more rules than rights
  • No improvements to either workload or appointments for faculty job security
CFA San Bernardino members stand together, with one holding a large money bag that says "Millie's Millions," with another holding a sign that says "Living Wage Now!"
CFA San Bernardino members gather in protest of corporate greed and advocate the need for living wages.

Do those proposals sound acceptable? If you want to fight for more than what management offered — whether your focus is on pay and benefits, AI, Academic Freedom, workload, or appointment — vote “YES” on your Strike Authorization Ballot today.
