Pledge to Vote Union on Propositions in the November 2026 Election
2026 is a turning point for California. With term limits reshaping the legislature and high-stakes measures on the ballot, the decisions made in the 2026 General Election will define political conditions for faculty, students, and our communities for the next decade.
Anti-worker and billionaire interests are escalating their efforts to take control of our political system. From federal races to local elections, they are pouring in resources to privatize public institutions, automate jobs, and consolidate wealth at the direct expense of the communities we serve. Workers must fight back by defending public resources, closing corporate loopholes, and demanding that the wealth we create is reinvested in our communities.
CFA is prioritizing three ballot measures this election.
Yes on Prop 3
Prop 3 is not a new tax, it would maintain up to $15 billion of annual state tax revenue by making a tax on high income earners permanent. As we fight for raises and just working conditions at the table, passing Prop 3 is critical to ensuring the state has the revenue needed to fully fund the CSU.
No on Prop 39
Prop 39 would disenfranchise millions of Californians who would be required to re-register to vote. We know that voter ID requirements disproportionately impact voters of color, low-income people, people who have changed their names, transgender and nonbinary people, and new citizens.
No on Prop 43
Prop 43 is a dangerous measure that would make it harder to raise revenue in California by raising the threshold for special revenue measures to two-thirds. Lost revenue would lead to layoffs of public sector employees and cuts to services, make projects that support affordable housing harder to fund, and empower a minority of voters in a district with veto power of the majority.
